8:14 PM, 405 North, Wilshire Blvd. exit. The car is suddenly filled with a sweet, heady odor. I gasp and roll down the windows. Night-blooming jasmine, a scent that soaks the air of Westwood when Mother Nature, as best as she can, decides that winter in Los Angeles is ending.
8:17 PM. Moraga Dr. exit. The scent of jasmine is immediately crushed by the scent of skunk. I roll up the windows.
(PS - The necklace I previously mentioned is done and looks great! Etsy, here I come!)

A footnote - tonight when I came home, the sweet odor of jasmine greeted me at my door. I stoop on tiptoe and peered over the fence, and I saw that the unassuming tree outside my window was dotted with white. Unexpected blessings.
