The Brief Wondrous Month of Tiara Chick

Only a little has happened in the last few weeks as far as my crafting. I took a trip to San Francisco and discovered the magic of Yone Beads.

Just a jammed, dark, mysterious little room of treasures. My new thrifty (ha!) resolution is to only buy beads if they are something I am sure I could never find anywhere else. By my fourth lap around the store, I was disheartened that I'd more or less seen beads of this ilk many times and was going to leave empty-handed. Then I found some little pink, glowing beads. The owner pointed out to me that they were vintage and unearthed three trays of vintage beads including the most spectacular green glass beads I'd ever seen.

I left with a dozen. I could not help myself. I have already sketched out their necklaces for my Etsy store.

I'm developing an obsesion with vintage beads, particulalry rare Swarovski's, particularly the ultra-rare Article 44 Swarovski's.

Go ahead and try to find info on them online. I've been looking for days and came up bust. If anyone has any to sell, or info on them in general, please contact me!

In other news, Silent Partner is now working for Jim Henson Productions and I could not be happier for him. He is doing so well there; he dwells among his people. Blessings to him!

And in still more news, the lindython I mentioned previously is now done. At press time, the total take for City of Hope was $177,000, and for my own team was over $24,000. Not bad for a team of first-timers with only 35 days' notice!

That's my wacky artists' co-op and general center of tomfoolery, The Cult of the Eye. We brought the party, y'all! Also, I'd like to give a special shout-out to The Debutaunt for pointing potentional donators my way. People like Deb are the reason I did this and will do it again.

And finally, some babies:
Yvie. Adam and Noah, from top to bottom. That's three babies in my life right now, with four on the way from other people I know. Late summer/early fall is going to be pretty busy for Babies'R'Us and showers, I think. In the meantime, I'm just not going to drink the water around here.

(20 minutes later)

Silent Partner turned me on to this video, and I cannot let this much cojones go unacknowledged.
